Silk Stevens designed a new 5,500 s.f. building and parking lot intended for offices and laboratories for Environment Canada. The design package included a floor plan, elevations, wall sections, wall/door/hardware schedule and notes, barrier-free design details, code conformance, foundation plan, roof plan, plumbing and HVAC plans and details, lighting plan, and electrical elevations and panels. Silk Stevens also provided construction inspection and contract administration services. The building requires to conform to a high standard to meet Environment Canada’s requirements. Specialized design features such as eyewash stations and laboratories were necessary. Construction was completed successfully in September 2018, within 11 months from the project initiation.
